Toronto Island Walk - Feb Edition
Posted by infuzion under Canadian Adventure , Photographer , Social , TravelerSo the plan was perfect however like oft is the case in life the execution was not.
The idea was for a group of Couch Surfers and I to visit Toronto Island and take a leisurely walk from one end to the other, or as far as we could within the few hours that we had that day.
It was just one of those days, and it started with Nicole and I missing the ImprovEverywhere subway dance party, which then caused us to miss the ferry for which I had told everybody to not be late for!
Meet: 1.15pm at the grassy area outside the Ferry Dock. Ferry leaves at 1:30pm and the next one is at 2:30pm so don’t be late! (in the event you are late, you could possibly meet us somewhere on the island)
Oh the embarrassment! To me there’s nothing worse than being the organiser and being late to my own event. Oh well, we weren’t the only ones. Neesa, Nadja and Darrel also missed the 1:30pm ferry because Neesa had stopped to purchase a hot chocolate! Imagine my reaction when Jose called me from the ferry asking if we were the ones who were running to the ferry dock when the ferry took off. Just gold!
An hour later our (late) group had joined the on-time group on the island.
The scenery was quite different to when I had first visited the island on the 30th of December last year. The most obvious change was the level of snow i.e. there was so much more if it this time around. That was no doubt helped by the recent snowstorms.
We didn’t cover much of the 9 Km end to end walk but it was fun and beautiful nevertheless!
I finally uploaded my pictures today hence the motivation for this post. Anyways, I’d definitely recommend a visit to the island for anybody visiting in Toronto. The view of the city from the ferrry is to die for. I hear that during the summer there are a lot of activities going on on the island so I’m keen on checking it out again then.
