In case you haven’t been paying attention to the news today (like me)…

Several people have been injured as explosions today rocked the London Underground subway network, prompting its closure. Travelers emerged from tunnels covered in blood and soot. A blast also hit at least one bus, witnesses said. Scotland Yard reported multiple explosions across the city. The cause of the blasts was not immediately known.

CNN story here.

Facts:
- a day after London was awarded the 2012 Olympics
- the G8 summit was getting under way in Scotland
- initial reports blamed a power surge, but officials were not ruling out a terrorist attack.
- a packed double decker bus in the Russell Square area had been severely damaged in a blast.
- there was another incident at Edgware Road station in north west London.

Inverse

05Jul05

If f:X->Y is a function then a function g:Y->X is an inverse of f iff fg=1Y and gf=1X. (Here 1X,1Y are the identity functions on X,Y.)

Yeh… I don’t know. Came across this site, this site, and this site whilst googling around for the proportionality symbol.

I do know after looking at these sites that my knowledge of calculus and integration is seriously lacking. To think that I did 4-unit mathematics in my HSC year at high school. Miss Mooney would be disappointed.

Interesting article in the NY Times today.

In summary, there was a new study conducted in the USA to determine whether true bisexuality (amongst men) really exists. Several prior studies have found that a great percentage of men who claim to be bixesual exhibit signs of homosexuality (ie. strong attraction to men but no so strong attraction to women).

People who claim bisexuality, according to these critics, are usually homosexual, but are ambivalent about their homosexuality or simply closeted. “You’re either gay, straight or lying,” as some gay men have put it.

Have a read. I found some statements to be quite humorous.

Oh, and I’m heterosexual thank you. (“Not that there’s anything wrong with that!“)

July Top 10

05Jul05

Let’s see. I’ve been listening to trance, progressive trance, house, progressive house, and some breaks lately.

I listened to some Top 40 in my mate’s car on the way to and from dinner on Sunday night and all I heard was tripe. Nothing in that area has inspired me for a long while.

So anyways, here’s a list of tracks that I’m liking this month.

01 Above & Beyond vs. Andy Moor – Air For Life (Mirco de Govia Remix)
02 Hugg & Pepp – Snabeln
03 D.O.N.S Feat Technotronic – Pump Up The Jam (Kurd Maverick Mix)
04 Will Saul – Mbira (Infusion Mix)
05 Duderstadt – Mahananda (Mystery Islands Remix)
06 Cupa – Mass Panic (Gareth Emery Remix)
07 Luke Terry – Broken Promises (Original Mix)
08 Lucas & Beltram – Trust Me (Original Mix)
09 James Zabiela – Robophobia (JZ’s Childhood Edit)
10 Sasha – Xpander (absolute classic!)
