Celebrate Life

15Sep09

One thing I love about Toronto this time of year is it’s festival time and there’s lots of them! Not only that, there’s just so much happening around town that there’s always something to do. On the other hand if you want to chill on the front porch with your house mates and have a tea party that’s totally acceptable too.

Along with Sandita (a friend visiting from Montreal) and Farhad (new house mate, just arrived last week from Iran) the last few days have been a flurry of events. The weather has been sunnily spectacular and perfect for biking all over the city in search of adventure.

Just a quick run-down of what we got up to…

Friday
- Toronto Vegetarian Food Fair – I volunteered as a costume wearer, and sported a carrot costume, oh yes I did!

Saturday
- Junction Arts Festival (where Sandy found a $2 hat)
- TTC Barns (Wynward Park) (where Sandy and I played on the swings and the seesaw!)
- Dutch Dreams (ranked #3 ice cream place on BlogTo in March 2008 and the frozen strawberry and lycee yoghurt was enough evidence of why they deserved the ranking)

Sunday
- Toronto Vegetarian Food Fair (chilled out on the astro-turf with friends)
- Free Hugs at Dundas Square (on TIFF weekend too so it was pretty busy and awesome!)
- Dinner in Korean Town
- Weekly Couchsurfing meeting at TRANZAC bar

Monday
- Stay home and do nothing day, though I walked up the road to the Sorauren Farmers’ Market and bought a sweet $7 jar of wildflower honey.

Tuesday
- Lunch at Gandhi, the best roti in town. Tip: go mild if you can’t handle spice! We all had teary eyes at one point, eating good roti can be so *sniff* emotional…

So with all the good times, great company, and healthy living what’s not to celebrate and appreciate?
