So after talking to Gail about her free Rogers Flickr pro account I figured that I’d have another stab at trying to get my own account. I attempted to get one previously but wasn’t too successful so I assumed that I wasn’t able to do it.
As a proof of the adage “where there is a will there is a way” I managed to do it. Yay for unlimited image uploads on Flickr! Refer here for other benefits of having a pro account.
So for the benefit of those who have a Rogers hi-speed internet account who also wants a free pro/unlimited Flickr account here’s how I did it.
Note: If you want to use your existing Flickr username (so you already have an existing account), you could try merging your new Flickr account associated with your Rogers Yahoo! email address. I tried it but wasn’t too successful (many other people have also struggled with getting this to work).
Edit (6/8): Saw this on a forum. Try this to transfer an existing flickr account… in your existing account profile, there’s a switch to another yahoo id. Use your rogers email address, ie something@rogers.com for your yahoo id, and apparently it will automatically become a pro account. (I have not tested this)
Alternatively you could do what I did and that was to delete the old account and create a new one using the steps below.
To create new unlimited account
1. go to http://rogers.my.yahoo.com/
2. log in using your Rogers Yahoo! ID
3. click on “photos” on the left menu, this should take you to flickr
4. follow the new account registration process
5. when complete you should see that your account is “pro” and when you go to upload link there is no “% of monthly xxx MB ” showing. You’re done! The pro status remains as long as you have an active rogers hi speed internet account I believe.
Now time to upload some more pics!
View my new Flickr (pro style!)

View my old Flickr (free and limited to 200 viewable and most recently uploaded images at a time)

Yes I probably should merge the two into one… maybe later.

I’m really glad you got it to work! Now you can upload to your heart’s content.
I hope my account doesn’t accidentally get deleted once I leave Rogers…
