How many times have you heard it? "Nice guys always finish last".
For a long while I agreed with that sentiment. Why? Because I’m usually the nice guy. Mistreating women and being a total bad ass isn’t my style. Never has, never will be.
So it always amazed me why back in high school the girl that I had a crush on always went for guys that were total jerks. Even today that trend continues out in the "adult" world.
Ever heard of the "Ladder Theory"? Though the author claims it was created for laughs and social observation I think there is some truth to it. Perhaps you female readers can comment on its validity.
Back on topic, Kim Conant posted an article about why women love bad boys and it’s an interesting read. Check it out, yes even you too fellas.
Makes me wonder, do women ever tire of the bad boys?
Funnily enough there’s a thread on this topic on Tranceaddict.com and a great statement made by one of the posters was this…
I’ve heard so many women say its hard to find a nice guy….good rule of thumb though….the guys you call friends….those are the nice guys.
Never a truer word spoken!
So going back to the idea that nice guys always finish last, I have seen several examples over the past 20 months and even as recent as within the past two months to suggest that it’s not always true. Some good mates of mine are married or soon to be married and they’ve attracted for themselves some wonderful partners.
It’s all about being clear about what you want and going for it. The same applies to all those girls who complain about bad boys being… well… bad.
Here’s a practical guide on how to attract an amazing partner. It was written by a mate of mine who used it in his own life and consequently attracted somebody truly special. Check it out. We could all learn a thing or two from his experience.
A word to the nice guys out there (including myself)… be clear about what it is you want and then go for it. You really have nothing to lose and a whole lot to gain

In his first interview with TIME, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg sat down with reporter Laura Locke to talk about Facebook’s rapid growth spurt, IPO rumors, future plans and the pressures of being a 23-year-old CEO in Silicon Valley.

Facebook… thou art a curse.
It’s so damn addictive, no wonder it’s been labelled a $5b waste of time!

On Sunday, August 12, I completed The Sun-Herald City2Surf. Click here to watch me crossing the finish line after my 14km journey from the Sydney CBD to Bondi Beach. I’m on camera 3!
Of 53,000 people who completed the 14km journey, I was the 40954th over the line with a time of 164:19. I ran about a third of it as I was too busy taking photos of everyone and enjoying the experience!

My body was aching something severe once I got home that afternoon (I couldn’t move from my chair!) as well as the next morning, but it was well worth it!
Team Crush (my team) raised approx. $2000 for the NSW Cancer Council! The Cancer Council speaks out on cancer issues, funds research to find better treatments and earlier detection, provides support for cancer patients and their families and runs prevention campaigns to help people reduce their cancer risk
You can still donate by clicking here.
Thanks to everybody that supported me and my team!

So yesterday I went to Woolworths to stock up on barley sugars and juice for my pending 40 hour famine (only 14 hours to go… sponsor me!). Anyways as I’m at the checkout everything proceeds as per the usual process i.e. I hand my items over on the sliding thingy and the checkout lady starts scanning each item one by one before placing them in a plastic bag (man I forgot my "go green" bag yet again!).
When all the items are in bags the checkout lady sees the card in my hand and asks "would you like any cash out?". I answer "no" and proceed to swipe the card through the electronic point of sale (POS) terminal. Once the transaction is processed (and approved by my lovely credit provider) the checkout lady hands me a pen and when ready passes me the paper slip for me to sign.

So I sign the slip and hand both pen and paper back to her directly i.e. I did not leave it on the bench for her to pick up nor did I throw them at her. To my surprise she thanks me and tells me "you’re the first person today to hand the pen and paper back to me instead of just chucking it at me. Thank you so much!". She looked at me and smiled as she said that.
I was amazed. How little a gesture could mean so much to another person.
Something to keep in mind next time you go grocery shopping perhaps. It’s the little details in life that can have the biggest impact.
(Incidentally I couldn’t find any barley sugars so I’ve got a couple bags of eucalyptus drops and a pack of eucalyptus and honey Soothers. Bring on the famine!)
