to blog or not to blog

A close friend of mine asked a couple of days ago what the purpose was behind my blog. Interesting question. It’s not something that I had stopped to think about for a while.

So now that I’ve thought about it, here’s my reason why…

I do it primarily for my own development. Journaling allows me to record my thoughts and feelings as I transition from one to the next. It’s my main activity for getting in touch with my spirit. Some days I can write heaps, and on other days I’m just not feeling open so I try and find something that lifts my spirits up (some humour, inspirational video, text, etc.).

Now as to why I share it to the internet public - the way I see it, If I can impart some of my experience to others and they can get something out of it then that’s great. Prior to a month ago I had a huge following of FOUR (yep count it - FOUR) loyal readers, and I was cool with that. Recently though I’ve been getting around 15-20 unique visitors per day from all around the globe (a big HELLO to you all and thanks for dropping by!).

Whether they’re reading or not doesn’t really bother me. It’s just another way to share more of who I am, which sometimes is not always easy to do in person - especially when it comes to my real life circle(s) of friends. It’s not like I can go into deep and meaningful discussions with everybody at group outings, know what I mean?

Blogging is therapeutic.

Here, here, and here are some other thoughts as to why people blog. Refer here for an interesting article about why blog post frequency does not matter anymore.
