So I was having a discussion yesterday with a male friend yesterday about chapped lips (because you know, guys talk about this stuff all the time right?) and which product was better… Vaseline (which is what I’ve been using following Miss M’s advice) or some other lip balm (like Chapstick).
My friend commented that he had heard somewhere that because Vaseline was a petroleum jelly it wasn’t good for the lips as there is no moisturizing agent.
Having been a long time chapstick user I knew all too well that it didn’t work too well with my lips. First of all there was the reliance/dependency on the product – once you started applying it, all of a sudden you were applying several times a day. Secondly, my lips still seemed to be chapped. Jenee had a similar experience after being forced to use chapstick.
So I’ve been using Vaseline petroleum jelly for the past couple of weeks. It seems to work better, but it does lack sun protection and there’s no mention of it having any kind of moisturizer on the packaging.
I just discovered on their web site that Vaseline have a Lip Balm with SPF 30 Plus product so I think I’ll give that a go.
