Earlier this evening, at 8pm AEST to be precise, I attended a conference call with my manager and a gentleman from Dublin. The meeting was held at that time to accommodate our European associate of course. The topic of discussion… a career opportunity. This was the fourth phone discussion that I’ve had in two weeks since my return to the office relating to potential roles and possible career progression.

As I listened in on the specifics of the project and the role requirements (it’s for a regional project manager role) it became quite obvious that the learning curve would be steep, and that the responsibility of the success of the project would rest solely upon the project manager leading it ie. potentially me.

Now though I’ve never managed a project of this scale before, and even though I have yet to be trained and certified in project management (though I’ve had limited exposure to the workings of a project manager previously) I felt a sense of excitement inside me. It would be a heck of a challenge and (having thought all day about it) I’m ready for it. What I don’t know, I’ll learn.

Affirmation » I am successful in everything I do

Interestingly enough whenever I’ve been asked (be it in person or on an online form) what my job description is I’ve been stating "project manager". Two of the three roles that I’m considering currently a project manager roles, and one is a program manager role (though that one is kind of up in the air at this point). Seems like a case of "thoughts become things" to me!

As I was driving home from work - in a rush to ensure that I wouldn’t miss the meeting, arriving at home 5 minutes before it was scheduled to start - it occurred to me that my current role ("process analyst" is probably the best way to describe it) commenced in a similar fashion. Initially when I was handed the responsibilities and expectations of the role I felt a bit overwhelmed. However I jumped right in and soon I was not only comfortable with what I needed to do, but I was able to do it well. .

Affirmation » Success comes easily to me

Indeed it does.
