Email received from iinet Support on Tues 13th Feb:

Just a quick email to keep you up to date with the status of your new ADSL application. As a reminder, before we can process your application you will have to advise your current ADSL provider to discontinue your existing service. This is because we cannot connect our ADSL service to your phone line while you have ADSL with another provider.

To ensure that a port will be available for you after you have completed the steps below, we have reserved a port for you to ensure that your DSLAM connection will be held until your application is processed.
Please note, however, that we can only hold this port for 21 days.
After that time, the port will be released and we will cancel your application.

Therefore, please remember to:
1. Cancel your current ADSL connection with your current provider.
2. Contact us if you no longer wish to join US. We will then release
your port so that it may be available for other customers.

I’ve since requested (via the member portal) that my current exetel account to be disabled this Sunday 18th Feb and iinet will hopefully process the ADSL2+ application the following day (I’ll need to call them to advise that the exetel account is closed). So i’ll probably be offline for a few days until iinet send me the temp dial up details.

Oh I should probably also note that I cancelled the credit card investigation because I worked out what the charges were. They were for the financial advisor that I went to earlier this month LOL! I misread "Tax" as "taxi" ! Yes, it’s safe to say that I’ve lost the plot a little since the surgery :P

I just ordered some hardware in preparation for ADSL2+:

1 x Billion BIPAC-7404VGPM $214.50 + delivery from MegaPC
1 x C10 C10100E Central ADSL splitter $35.00 (free postage) from MATS systems

I should be receiving this stuff within a week or two.

It appears that I’m leaving my current ISP at just about the right time too, what with their customer service issues and poor service quality over the past few months.

My whirlpool post regarding the issues I had with the iinet online signup form has been responded to by an iinet representative also. Some smartass also posted this feedback about the iinet website which I thought was pretty humorous.

Hopefully it’s smooth sailing from here *fingers crossed* and I’ll be up and running with faster speeds in no time!

The result of the Mac/PC one cracked me up.
