Update on the application - so I called Iinet and the dude tells me that they received the application (there is no automated email to tell you that it’s been received — GHEY) and that it was unsuccessful because they couldn’t bill $1.50 to my nominated credit card (again there is no automated email to tell you that it’s been unsuccessful and why — GHEY x2!). The dude cancels my application and resubmits it, then calls me back and tells me that I’ll need to call them in three to four hours to check the status.

Five hours later I call them and am advised yet again that the credit card was declined. FFS would have been nice if I was notified but that’s OK I give them another credit card number and apparently this one is looking good. The chick tells me to keep an eye out for an email over the next few days and if I don’t receive anything I’ll need to call them back (she didn’t actually tell me this last bit, I worked it out for myself and confirmed with her).

Side note - I check my first credit card on netbank and notice a $780 transaction from a cab company this month. I’m like "heeeeEElllLl No I didn’t make that transaction" so now I’m submitting a dispute through CBA and will need to visit a branch tomorrow to sign the dispute form. Apprently it can take up to 28 days for a dispute to be resolved and until then the charge is mine (as the merchant has a right to dispute). Feck!

My current ADSL provider is exetel, and they’ve been going downhill over the past few months. There are lots of reports from dissatisfied customers on Whirlpool. So I decided it’s time to make a change, and if possible upgrade to ADSL2+.

I entered my phone number in DSLAMwatch and HURRAH!

Good news! According to our records your exchange is ADSL2+ active with the following provider(s):

Bigpond (Not verified)
iiNet/Ozemail
TPG

Max Att. Speed for all three is 24000/1000k.

I basically despise both Bigpond (bad experience previously) and TPG (I worked for them once) so I just submitted the online application form for iinet ADSL2+ w/ VOIP bundle about 30 mins ago.

First I had an issue with the signup form. More details here.

Then I got a confirmation page showing success but have yet to receive an email confirmation. That means I can’t use the application status page. I read on whirlpool that sometimes online applications disappear into limbo (ie. don’t register on their systems — wtf!) so I’m going to give it another 15 mins before I call support on 13 22 58.

Seriously, make your friggen signup process easier for potential customers Iinet!

Incidentally iinet are selling Belkin routers and from what I’ve read they’re crap. So now I gotta find me a good price for the Billion BiPAC 7404VGP(M).

Not off to a good start so far, let’s hope that it gets better from here.
