I took Mishku’s advice and downed two Nurofen Plus tablets before going to bed at 4am this morning. I woke up a couple of hours ago and the headache/migraine is almost gone.
Observations:
Nurofen Plus > Aspro Clear
Who needs a useless doctor when they’ve got a Mishku? ^_^
Sander K does wonders for forgetting about one’s migraine, even if for only a couple of hours
This now means that I should be okay to attend my friend’s bucks night tonight. When the planned evening’s events consists of Long Island Ice Teas and Attitude Adjusters - you know it’s going to get messy.
I don’t think Sublime was the best choice of night/venue for Sander.
The ‘pre-paid’ queue being ten times the size of the standard queue was just ridiculous. I actually went straight through the standard queue in like two minutes, passed through security check, and into the club before being told I had to go back out and join the ‘guest list’ queue which was long as! So using some true ingenuity I jumped the queue (LOL Macguyer would have been proud) and Shaun joined me moments later having drunkenly stumbled over from his work Xmas dinner.
Singapore DJ Aldrin was a bit of a disappointment. He spent 80% of the time away from the decks and did not warm up the crowd for Sander at all.
Thankfully Sander played 12:30 - 2:30 because Shaun and I spent most of the night indicating that our legs and backs were going to give out hahah. When you look around the club and everybody else appears five to ten years younger than you, well you KNOW you’re getting old!
Anyway once Sander came on he completely changed the tempo and vibe in the club, and proceeded to destroy it with some phat housey basslines, dirty electro and some gigantic buildups. There was a tune that sounded very much like My Lexicon but wasn’t. Hopefully I can find it.
Shame about the Sublime crowd and shit supporting DJs. After Sander drops Chris Lake - Changes (Dirty South Remix) for his last track (thanks Grunt for the ID) with an overlay acapella of Daft Punk’s Around The World, Jumping Jack comes on and drops some stupid assed hard shite. Like What The F*ck!
Sander’s music style was sooo different from the supporting acts he really was out of place. I reckon he should have been rocking it at YU with Mayer and Fanciulli instead.
So it’s now the fifth day that I’ve had this bloody headache and there is no sign of it disappearing anytime soon. I went to see an optometrist at the recently upgraded Westfields Liverpool today as I was really getting paranoid that I was losing my eyesight (thanks to the clever work colleague that gave me that idea!). After searching around for an optometrist (there are several in Westfields Liverpool) I settled on icontact optometrists. Mainly because OPSM was booked out till the afternoon, this was the second place I had come across and there was nobody in there. Several tests later… thankfully it was good news. Aside for a minor case of astigmatism causing my eyes to not focus properly together as well as they should I have healthy eyes and won’t be needing glasses… yet. However I was instructed to perform some simple eye tests at home for the next two weeks to see if there is any improvement with my minor condition.
So at least I’ve got that worry out of the way.
Whilst there, nursing a headache and vision slightly blurred mind you, I took the opportunity to stroll around and check out the new Westfields. I even managed to get disoriented a couple of times but I’m not sure if that’s due to the surroundings or the headache, or both. With my usual gay hairdresser on holidays in the Philippines I figured I’d chance getting my hair cut in commercial world. Once, a few years ago, I had my hair cut in Westfields and the result was less than average. Today’s $15 cut was OK, good even. The attention to detail that I expect from my usual guy wasn’t there, but I didn’t expect much from this place.
My head is still hurting and I’ve got a date with Sander K at Home tonight. Hopefully I make it there (and back) in one piece, as well as enjoy some of it.
After three days of having constant headaches I finally went and saw a doctor yesterday. The doctor suspected that I had some sort of trauma and/or stress so advised me to buy some soluble aspirin and to get some rest. If the headaches persist until next Monday then I am to return to his office. I hope that’s all it is, as a work colleague suggested that I may be losing my eyesight and that I should get my eyes checked. I ran this by the doctor and he said that could be a possibility but he needed to make sure that it wasn’t stress-related before investigating further.
Fingers crossed… the last thing that I need right now is for my eyesight to be deteriorating.
The ridiculous heat of the past few days hasn’t been helping at all.
