Pox break

22Sep06

Memo that went around the office yesterday…

We have been advised that several employees working at the site during the week of 11 September have contracted chicken pox.

Chicken pox is a very contagious virus which commonly occurs in children.  Approximately 90% of the population contract the virus by the age of 15.  People rarely get chicken pox twice.

Should you have any concerns about your health, please seek medical advice from your GP.  Additional information about the virus and its symptoms is available from the NSW Health website (URL below).

We again remind everyone to use good hygiene practices at all times, including covering the mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, keeping one’s hands away from the eyes, nose and mouth, and washing hands carefully.

Regards,
K Lake – Site Manager

Thank goodness I already had the pox when I was 17 — first year of uni actually — and that was not an experience that I’d like to re-live ever again.

Says a lot about the level of hygiene within the office doesn’t it? Guess it could happen anywhere really.
