May 2006

25 year-old Filipino actress Mei Melancon was chosen to bring X-Men Psylocke to life.

Is it just me or does she look nothing like the character?

Her other alias is “Lady Mandarin” so it kinda makes sense I suppose. I didn’t really notice her in the movie at all.

Another interesting bit of trivia - Shadowcat (aka. Kitty Pryde) was portrayed by Ellen Page in X3, however Sumela Kay was originally cast as the character in X-Men the movie.

Other characters that appeared in the movie: Jubilee, Arclight, Omega Red

birthdayalarm.com was started in 2001 by three people to provide a simple way for people to remember birthdays.

Such a simple but useful idea, particularly for those who are absolutely hopeless when it comes to remembering dates and times ie. me!

I only have one gripe with the service, and actually it has nothing to do with the website at all but the people who enter their birthdays and deliberately leave out one piece of useful info…

Gotta love people who don’t put in their year of birth. Scared people will know their age or something! Sucks when you’re trying to give them a birthday card… “Um… happy 50th (sorry, you didn’t specify the year of birth and I figured 50 sounded just about right)”.

The X-Men series is good. The third installment was considerably weaker than the first two and it seemed they really simplified everything (in terms of storyline and characters) in order to make it “The Last Stand”.

The ending does leave it open for a fourth. I guess it depends on how much the movie grosses and who they can sign up for the next one.

Wolverine and Prof X are on the money in terms of casting. Beast was decent. Juggernaut sucked, he should have been twenty times the size of what was portrayed.

I enjoyed it. Nothing better than a couple of hours of watching mutants with super powers on the big screen to forget about reality.

Sin City and Batman Begins, in my opinion, are by far the best comic to screen adaptations.

Edit: Look out for a reference to this in the movie.
