Blog Tools
23Oct05
So I was surfing around randomly and somehow stumbled upon some blogging software packages. Until now it hadn’t even occurred to me that there were WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) applications out there that would (supposedly) make it easier for people to blog.
The first tool I came across was RocketPost. Marketed as ”the only blog editor with WYSIWYG editing, full offline editing and full blog import” and priced rather highly ($149 USD) this was meant to be the premium blogging software. Well that’s what one reviewer said anyway. Looking at the feature list it does appear to be what it claims to be. The full blog import function that allows you to download all your existing posts and get started in less than 5 minutes is pretty cool., but man that sh*t is just too expensive.
So I kept looking.
The next tool I happened upon was BlogJet. At $39.95 USD, that seemed more reasonable. BlogJet integrates with IE and Mozilla Firefox browsers which is pretty cool. However, being the el cheapo that I am I still wasn’t satisfied with a free 30-day trial version.
That’s when I found Qumana. I actually saw a link to it one of the comments posted on the RocketPost reviewer’s blog. Not only did Qumana claim to have many of the functions the other two apps did, but it was FREE. Sold! I’m using it right now to write this post
So anyways, it was a hot day in Sydney today.
