March 2005

I’ve been prematurely uncapped! WOOHOO!

Gotta love Bigpond errors ;)

Thurs Night - Roxy Hotel. Mega trashed. Had an awesome time. Pics here.

Fri - Hungover @ yum cha. Tingha at Cabramatta. Pretty good place that we’ve been going to pretty regularly (I think I’ve been there three weeks in a row now lol). Good variety and it’s clean (always a bonus).

Sat - Newcastle for Sarah Mclachlan. Newcastle is ok… for a hole. If it had a casino it would rival Canberra and Panthers for place you should only go to once. Sarah made it all worthwhile though ;)

Sun - Buggered from Newcastle, but drove to Greenwood to get tix for a few ppl for SOS only to find out thateach person had to be there. There were only 200 tix at the door, and people had been lining up for 2 hrs before I got there! So I left (after checking out the sights). Went out for drinks at V Bar later that night with a few mates. Relatively early night.

Mon - slept most of the day. Recovery mode. Oh and managed to do a vocal trance mix using Traktor.

Today I’m a bit spaced out lol. All in all not a bad Easter weekend.

After carefully monitoring my downloads over the past 28 days I finally went over the 10GB limit today, and the automatic shaping kicked in.

It’s been torture ever since. The worst thing is that I have to endure this pain for another three days.

“It’s only three days,” I can hear some of you saying, but three days of not being able to browse as I attempt to download stuff is unbarable. Three days of not being able to post whore on my fave forums is unthinkable.

Ok maybe I’m exaggerating. There is a silver lining.

For example today I finally got a chance to play around with Tracktor DJ Studio 2 and record a trance mix I’ve been meaning to do for a few months. Nothing spectacular. There’s great room for improvement but I expected as much considering the limited knowledge that I possess of how to smoothly mix two tracks together using the tool. It’s fun though. If only Nero wouldn’t take so long so that I could burn it to CD. Damn Nero.

Less time wasted on the net also means that I can get to work on my finances - keeping track of my expenditure and budgeting.

Another thing I’ve been neglecting since the toe injury is exercise and diet. Need to get back into it.

It’s been a good Easter long weekend. Definitely bigger than I had planned.

Back to work and the daily grind tomorrow. Sigh.

I haven’t had so much fun at a club in ages. Granted I was absolutely mega-intoxicated, but hey I was sober enough to access my mental faculties (memory, judgement, arithmetic, etc) as well as control physical movement (speech, camera finger, etc)… just.

So how did we end up there? Good question.

It started with a conversation on an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) channel (because we’re Intarwab n3rds like that)…

[22:22:14] [praha`dream] what time you working tomorrow anf
[22:22:24] [+d4Rk[bz]] 9am - 6pm
[22:22:31] [praha`dream] GAY!
[22:22:38] [+d4Rk[bz]] why?
[22:22:44] [+d4Rk[bz]] aren’t u doing 8pm finish?
[22:22:45] [praha`dream] cause i wanna get pissed

I checked my emails to see what ITM had sent me by way of events that they needed photographed or reviewed (but I don’t do reviews - yet), and I came across the following:

Thu 24th Mar –> Roxy Hotel Easter feat. Jonathan Lisle (UK) & Kid Kenobi –> Roxy Hotel, Paramatta. REVIEWER & PHOTOGRAPHER REQUIRED

I’d seen Kid Kenobi at Two Tribes a few weeks ago, and he was impressive. A combination of house and break beats, and fine track selection, proved the guy was good. Also, I’d never been to the Roxy and had heard some positive things about the cinema turned night club venue. Also heard some negatives with regards to crowd (read ‘extremely wog’) but that wasn’t going to deter me. It’s always good to try new things.

[22:25:13] [+d4Rk[bz]] yeah i might be able to get us in free
[22:25:31] [praha`dream] sweeet im up for that

So it was agreed. We’d be getting drunk at the Roxy.

Trashed.

I think that about sums up the state that I was in last night. Late this morning actually. At about 4.30am when I miraculously stumbled out of the car and onto the porch. One hand holding the car keys, my jacket, my camera, a bottle of water and a kebab that I had only taken one bite out of but couldn’t stomach any more as it made me feel like throwing up. The other hand fumbling with the lock on the door.

Click.

The sound of the lock turning, as I swayed like a bouy in the ocean because my head was spinning. I dropped the water bottle at some point. I remember that because images of my grumpy parents - waking up and coming out of their room demanding to know where the hell I had been and why I was intoxicated - flashed somewhere in the recesses of my mind. It didn’t happen though. Thank goodness.

I made it to bed. Would have liked to have taken a shower but it was cold (getting colder these days) and it would have been disastrous. `Sides my stomach was feeling really really bad. Churning in fact. So I took off my cigarette-stained clothing and threw on a shirt and my favourite orange jumper. I didn’t know it at the time, but it was on backwards. Hey I was inebriated.

If there’s one thing that I regret from last night (this morning) it’s the drink driving. Definitely a bad idea, and definitely not doing it again.

Crash.
